Rationale
Advocates for the Protection and the Prevention of Abuse and Exploitation of Children or APPROACH, is a consortium of NGOs working to eliminate commercial sexual exploitation of children (CSEC) in the Visayas. APPROACH is composed of Bidlisiw Foundation, Inc., Children’s Legal Bureau (CLB), Inc. and Fellowship for Organizing Endeavors (FORGE), Inc. Having worked together since the 1990s, APPROACH Consortium continues to work side-by-side, sharing knowledge and experiences, and striving for more effective and sustainable approaches in the fight against commercial sexual exploitation of children.
One of the identified initiatives of the Consortium is to develop standard training materials for project implementers to have common messaging, scope and objectives so that individual outputs contribute to the achievement of the collective consortium project targets and outcomes.
Objectives
To produce a booklet of the modules on awareness-raising topics that will be used by the Consortium to promote the advocacy on the protection and the prevention of abuse and exploitation of children.
CALL FOR APPLICATION:
APPROACH Consortium is looking for contractors to fill in the following project-based positions to work as a team:
A. ONE (1) WRITER/RESEARCHER
Task and Functions:
• Develop the outline, parts and contents of the module.
• Draft the module based on all available references from the Consortium
Applicants must have the following qualifications:
• Has understanding of the issue of commercial sexual exploitation of children and knowledge on international and national child protection laws, mandates and treaties such as the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCHR), anti-trafficking in persons laws (RA 9208 as amended by RA 10364), Anti-Child Abuse Law (RA 7610), Anti-Child Pornography Act (RA 9775), etc;
• Skilled in information architecture and design, typography, training material development, illustration, etc;
• Has solid writing capability, skilled on the rules of English grammar.
B. ONE (1) COPY EDITOR
Task and Functions:
• Check over writers’ final draft
• Ensure the manuscript is free of errors, is easy to read for end-users and fits the organization’s editorial style.
Applicants must have the following qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in English, journalism or other relevant field
• Ability to work under pressure and meet urgent deadline
• Ability to work independently or with less supervision
• Knowledge and prior experience in copy editing and publication on child protection and advocacy work is a plus
C. ONE (1) GRAPHIC ARTIST/ILLUSTRATOR
Task and Functions:
• Create graphic materials, drawings, illustrations, specifications and layouts for the booklet to be produced
• Develop information, education and communication (IEC) materials such as brochures, posters, flip charts, flyers, etc.
Applicants must have the following qualifications:
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
• Can deal effectively with various types of people
• Self-motivated, team player, flexible and can multi-task
• Ability to work independently or with less supervision
• Proficiency in any graphics software (Google SketchUp, Photoshop, Illustrator and/or Arena)
• Knowledge and prior experience in child protection and advocacy work is a plus
